Meditation has no fixed origins and it is therefore safe to assume that it has been practiced in various forms across the world.There are however highly evolved forms of Meditation. Transcendental meditation is done to realize the union of one's self, one's’ ātman‘(divine soul), with the omnipresent and non-dual.

However, Meditation has great benefits for people who are in good health too. It enhances their experience of healthy living, allowing one to do much more.
